EPMN reaches historic milestone with production of 1000th car in Melaka

Main Market-listed EP Manufacturing Bhd (“EPMB” or “Group”) proudly celebrated a major milestone today with the production of its 1000th car at the Vehicle Assembly Plant in Pegoh, Melaka. This achievement highlights EPMB’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability in automotive manufacturing.

During the event, EPMB’s Executive Chairman delivered a heartfelt speech, reflecting on the company’s journey and outlining its vision for the future:

"Today marks the beginning of a new era for EPMB. Reflecting on the challenging times during the COVID-19 pandemic, we persevered and laid the foundation for a credible and robust plan forward. Today, we see it coming to fruition.

Our return to profitability is sustainable, and we are on a trajectory toward a brighter future for the Group. EPMB is an undervalued company, but the tide is now turning in our favour.

Phase 1 of our Vehicle Assembly Plant in Pegoh, Melaka, is a testament to our vision. The partnership with GWM has been a resounding success, with our production consistently meeting GWM's stringent quality standards. This momentum continues as we prepare to assemble the smaller GWM Jolion model in April 2025, followed by their MPV by the end of the same year. The MPV will be catered to the ASEAN market, enhancing our regional presence.

In addition, 2025 will see us assembling another China Brand BAIC models. Our operations are fast-tracking, and we project that Phase 1’s capacity will be fully utilized by the end of 2025. Consequently, we are gearing up for Phase 2, which will increase production capacity by an additional 30,000 vehicles per year. Following this, Phase 3 will focus on manufacturing vehicle bodies and painting.”

The Executive Chairman has also extended his great gratitude to Melaka state government for being an incredible partner to EPMB and the unwavering support from the Honourable Chief Minister of Melaka, Dato’ Seri Utama Ab Rauf bin Yusoh. He also expresses his appreciation towards the government departments naming Melaka Corporation, Invest Melaka Berhad, Alor Gajah Municipal Council, Melaka Fire and Rescue Department , and on the Federal Front, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (“MIDA”), Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (“MITI”), Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (“MARii”), Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (“MIDF”), and Royal Malaysian Customs Department for the tremendous support.

Driving Localisation and Ecosystem Growth
As a diversified group, EPMB prioritises the localisation of vehicle components to strengthen Malaysia’s automotive industry. Through its facilities in Kulim, Tanjong Malim, Batang Kali, Shah Alam, and Melaka, EPMB has begun localising critical components for GWM vehicles, including:
>Seats,
>Front frame steering, suspension, and braking systems,
>Rear axle modules with suspension and braking systems,
>Instrument panels, centre consoles, and interior door trims.

In partnership with GWM, EPMB is also supporting other local suppliers to enhance the supply chain, fostering the development of an automotive ecosystem in Melaka. This ecosystem brings a significant multiplier effect, creating jobs, boosting local industries, and stimulating economic growth.

Commitment to Sustainability and ESG Principles
EPMB’s commitment goes beyond manufacturing. The company is embedding Environmental, Social, and Governance (“ESG”) principles into its operations to ensure sustainable value creation. In Melaka, this includes:
Focusing on energy-efficient production processes,
Reducing waste across operations, and
Adopting cleaner technologies in assembly lines.

Looking Ahead
EPMB’s journey is far from over. With plans to expand production capacity through Phases 2 and 3, to increase production capacity and integrate vehicle body and painting operations. The company is well- positioned to meet growing demand, innovate in  vehicle manufacturing, and contribute to the localization of Malaysia’s automotive industry.
